Phyllis A. Cucchiani has worn many labels in her life. Survivor. Banker. Pastor. Daughter. Mother. Wife. The world has tried to define her by her trauma, her diagnosis, and her circumstances. She has spent decades proving them wrong.<\/p>

Born and raised in Norristown, Pennsylvania, Cucchiani grew up in poverty, raised by a mentally ill mother and a fiercely determined grandmother. By thirteen, she was a mother herself, having given birth to a child conceived through rape. The odds were stacked against her. She refused to accept them.<\/p>

She earned her bachelor’s degree from Washington and Jefferson College, followed by an MBA from the Wharton School. She built a successful career in commercial banking at Continental Illinois National Bank and later served as a Bank Liquidation Specialist with the FDIC. But the corporate world was not her final destination.<\/p>

Cucchiani answered a calling that surprised everyone, including herself. She enrolled at Union Theological Seminary in New York City and was ordained as an elder in the United Methodist Church. She served as a pastor, chaplain, and spiritual leader, ministering to the sick, the dying, and the forgotten. She walked the halls of hospitals and the pulpits of churches with the same grit that carried her through the ghetto.<\/p>

Her journey has been marked by profound loss, including the death of her mother, the collapse of her marriage to an Italian banker, and a lifelong struggle with bipolar disorder. She has been homeless twice. She has been hospitalized multiple times. And she has kept getting back up.<\/p>

Today, Cucchiani is a speaker, a mentor, and a fierce advocate for survivors of sexual violence, mental illness, and systemic oppression. Her story is a testament to the power of resilience and the unshakable belief that no one is beyond redemption.<\/p>
